Hi ladies (and gentlemen)! Ha ha
It's a new year, which means new craziest diet fads, gym work outs and much, much more! I've never been one for new years resolutions but recently I've realized that I really need to start taking better care of myself.
Today is my first day of the "Glowing Green Smoothie". Now if you've never heard of the GGS, it's a recipe from Kimberly Snyder. If you're interested in learning more about her, here is the link to her web site http://www.kimberlysnyder.net/
Her blog is also quite interesting (click "blog" in the upper right corner) ha ha.
What Are You Looking To Gain/Change?
I'm not looking to lose a large sum of weight, give up my love for chicken or eat six almonds a day. I'm a young woman who loves to "get her grub on" ha ha. My skin has been suffering due to my lack of not eating healthy and that's something I am definitely hoping to change.
I'd like to acquire a taste for veggies, as they extremely important to implement into your everyday eating habits. Now, with that being said... I don't expect this to be a quick, "painless" task for my taste buds! Ha ha.
What's The GGS Recipe?
Why, I'm so glad you asked!
Ingredients (64 ounces / 2-4 servings)
- 1 ½- 2 cups very cold, filtered water
- 6 cups spinach, chopped
- 5 cups organic romaine lettuce, chopped
- 2 stalks of organic celery
- 1 organic apple, cored and chopped
- 1 organic pear, cored and chopped
- 1 organic banana
- 1–2 Tbs. fresh organic lemon juice
Optional Ingredients
- Ice cubes (the extra coldness can help newbies with the taste)
- 1/2 cup of organic cilantro
- 1/2 cup of organic parsley
Final Words...
I ordered "The Beauty Detox" (her book) a couple days ago from B&N and am just waiting for it to make it's way to my house. Now, I don't plan on changing my whole entire diet or going on a "diet" but I really enjoy her tips and recipes.
It's not the easiest drink to swallow, but it's also not unbearable. If you love your veggies, you might love the taste! It's very, very thick. When I think of "smoothies" this isn't exactly what comes to mind... ha ha ha. I'll make it work though, all about repetition!
Has anyone read her book, make any of their own healthy smoothies or have tips on how to eat veggies?! I'd love to hear them!
Thanks in advance from a very unhealthy tummy,
xoxo!
